About this policy
Effective date: [Jan, 2026]
We collect only what we need to match families with puppies and stay in touch, and we never sell your information. Your email, phone number and application answers are never shown on our website.
Cavaliers of Healdsburg (“we”, “us”) is a family Cavalier King Charles Spaniel breeder in Healdsburg, California. This policy covers our website, cavalierofhealdsburg.com, the emails we send, and the reservations and puppy sales we handle with families. It explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Most of what we know about you is what you choose to tell us in a form, an email or a message. A small amount is collected automatically when you visit the website.
| When | What we collect |
|---|---|
| You apply for a puppy | Your name, email, phone, city and state, and how you heard about us. The puppy or litter you want, your sex, color and timing preferences, and pickup or delivery plans. About your home: house or apartment, own or rent (and landlord approval), yard, who lives with you, how long a puppy would be alone, and who would care for it. Your experience with dogs and Cavaliers, your preferred deposit payment method, any message you add, and your agreement to our policies. |
| You contact us | Your name, email, phone and what you write — through our contact form, email, phone, text, WhatsApp or social media. |
| You join our newsletter | Your email and first name (optional), where you signed up (website footer, pop-up, page form or the application), and the dates you signed up, confirmed and, if you do, unsubscribed. |
| You reserve or buy a puppy | Your family name and contact person, the reservation date, deposit and payments received (amount, date, method), your puppy and place on the Priority List, pickup or delivery details (including a delivery address if needed), and your purchase agreement. |
| You send a testimonial | Your words, photos and the name you want shown, sent to testimonials@cavalierofhealdsburg.com. |
| You comment on a blog post | Your name, email, comment and IP address (used for spam checks). |
| You visit the website | Your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view and the site that sent you, through our host’s server logs and website statistics. Small cookies and browser storage, described in Cookies below. |
We never ask for payment card numbers, bank details or Social Security numbers on our website. Deposits and payments are made through Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, bank transfer or card, and those companies handle your payment details.
How we use your information
We use your information to place puppies in good homes and to look after you before and after your puppy goes home. Every application is read and decided by us personally — no automated decisions.
- Review your application and decide whether a puppy from us is a good fit.
- Reply to your questions and keep you updated by email, our preferred way to communicate.
- Confirm your reservation, keep the Priority List, and send your private access code.
- Send photos, videos and updates about your litter or puppy, and care information.
- Record your deposit and payments, and keep the records our purchase agreement, 2-year health guarantee and taxes require.
- Arrange pickup, or delivery with a pet transport company or flight nanny if you choose it.
- Send our newsletter, if you signed up for it.
- Publish your testimonial, only if you sent it to us for that purpose.
- Understand which pages are useful, keep the website secure and block spam.
- Meet legal obligations and protect our rights, our dogs and our families.
The private Priority List
Only families with a confirmed reservation can see our Priority List, and they see a short summary of each family — never contact details. A reservation is confirmed once we receive your deposit; we then email you a personal access code. The page is not public and is never stored by search engines or page caches.
What other reserved families can see about you:
- Your family name as we list it (for example, “The Johnson Family”)
- Your reservation date and place on the list
- The puppy you reserved, or the sex and color you are waiting for
- Your puppy’s name and litter, once matched, and whether your puppy has gone home
- The deposit you have paid and the balance due
Never shown: your email, phone number, address, notes, payment method or application answers.
Would you rather appear by your initials or a nickname? Email us and we will change it. Your access code works only for you; if it is ever shared, we can replace it and the old code stops working.
Emails and our newsletter
You get our newsletter only if you ask for it, and you can stop it with one click at any time.
- Application and reservation emails. While you have an application or reservation with us, we email you about it: confirmations, your access code, puppy updates and pickup or delivery plans.
- Newsletter. You can join from the website or by ticking the box on the puppy application. When you sign up on the website, we first email you a link to confirm; you are not added until you click it. The newsletter comes about once a month, with litter news, available puppies and Cavalier tips.
- Unsubscribing. Use the link at the bottom of any newsletter, your email app’s unsubscribe button, or email us. We keep your email address and the date you left on a do-not-email list, so we never add you again by mistake.
- No tracking pixels. Our emails do not track whether you open them. Links back to our website carry a “newsletter” tag, so our statistics can count those visits and the site does not ask you to subscribe again.
Who we share it with
We never sell or rent your personal information, and we never give it to others for their own marketing. We share it only with the services that help us run the website and place puppies, and only what each one needs.
| Who | Why | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Hostinger | Hosts our website and our email | Everything sent through the website, and our emails |
| Google (Site Kit: Search Console and Analytics) | Website statistics and search performance | Your IP address, device and the pages you visit, through Analytics cookies — never your form answers |
| Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, your bank or card processor | Process the deposits and payments you choose to send | What you give them; we receive your name, the amount and the date |
| Pet transport company or flight nanny | Bring your puppy to you, if you choose delivery | Your name, phone, delivery address and travel details |
| [American Kennel Club / microchip registry — confirm] | [Register your puppy, if we do this for you] | [Your name and contact details] |
We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect the safety of our dogs, families or others, or if our business is transferred to a new owner who agrees to this policy.

How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we need it, then delete it; you can ask us to delete it sooner, except records the law requires us to keep.
| Information | How long we keep it |

How we protect it
Your details are kept in our password-protected website admin area and our email, never on public pages.
- The whole website uses an encrypted connection (https).
- Only we can open applications, payments and family records; our accounts use strong passwords [and two-step sign-in].
- Priority List access codes are unique to each family and can be replaced at any time.
- Our forms block automated spam without tracking you.
No website or email system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever affects your personal information, we will tell you as California law requires.
Your choices and rights
Email us at info@cavalierofhealdsburg.com and we will act on your request within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, and we won’t treat you differently for asking.
- See your information. Ask for a copy of what we hold about you.
- Correct it. Tell us what is wrong or out of date, and we will fix it.
- Delete it. We will delete your information, except records we must keep for a purchase agreement, health guarantee or taxes.
- Stop emails. Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time; reservation emails stop when your reservation ends.
- Change how you appear on the Priority List. We can show your initials or a nickname instead.
California residents. We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising. We do not share it with others for their own direct marketing (California’s “Shine the Light” law). Google Analytics may collect information about your visits over time; no other company does so through our website.
Do Not Track. Our website does not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, because there is no agreed standard for them. You can still block cookies or use Google’s opt-out add-on, described above.
Children’s privacy
Our website is for adults: you must be 18 or older to apply for, reserve or buy a puppy. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
Links to other websites and social media
Our website links to our Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and WhatsApp pages, and those companies’ own privacy policies apply there. When you message us on one of them, that company handles your message under its policy, and we see what you send.
Changes to this policy
When we update this policy, we change the effective date at the top. If a change affects how we use information you’ve already given us, we will also tell newsletter subscribers and families with a reservation by email.
